He boasted that as part of his plan for a modern industrial future, each and every citizen of Trinidad and Tobago would become among the highest consumers of electricity in the world. A little birdie needs to whisper in the ear of the Prime Minister that global warming, sea level rise, break down of climate, desertification, hurricanes and bird flu all go hand in hand with electricity consumption.

Mr Manning’s ridiculous statements left his breakfast guests in such a bewildered state that not one of them could think of a single question to ask during the question and answer period that followed.
