US airport security measures relax

According to the release, there is no requirement to screen the shoes of passengers and duty free items in liquid form can be purchased and taken on board the aircraft if the items are carried to the boarding gate by duty free shop personnel.

The items can only be transported in the cabin of the aircraft if they are delivered to the passenger immediately before or after they have boarded.

However, effective immediately, passengers are not to have liquids, gels or aerosols in accessible property or on their person past the boarding gate hold area or the boarding gate.

Items that can be carried in hand baggage include baby formula, prescription medicine (with a name that matches the passenger’s ticket), other essential non-prescription medicines and liquids not to exceed 4 ozs) or gels for diabetic passengers who indicate a need for such items to address their medical conditions (no more than 8 oz).

Stringent security measures for travel to the United Kingdom still apply.
