Seven WASA plants down
In a statement yesterday, WASA said due to high sediment levels the Aripo, Guanapo, Tompire, Lluengo, Acono, Quare, Blanchisseuse and Caroni water plants were closed.
At the time the release was issued, WASA could not say when operations at the plants would resume as crews had to wait until the weather cleared to go in and clear the debris from clogged pumps which had slowed down the water treatment process. However, a WASA spokesman later said as the rains held up the clean up began yesterday afternoon and it is expected that all of the plants would be operational by this morning.
When contacted yesterday, officials at the TT Meteorological Services did not rule out more rain, but forecast that conditions would improve tomorrow with some much anticipated sunshine.
