$30,000 robbery in south
Up to late yesterday, police were continuing their search for the bandits. Police sources told Newsday they believe that prior to the robbery, one of the bandits pretending to be a customer seeking to purchase insurance, visited the office to check the level of security. According to police reports, at about 1.45 pm on Wednesday, the bandits entered the office with guns pointed and announced a hold up. They seized $30,000 in cash and also robbed customers and insurance agents of their jewelry and personal items including cellular phones and car keys. A team of officers visted the scene and subsequently carried out a mobile search for the bandits which proved futile. Statements were also recorded from the victims. PC Mendoza is continuing investigations.
