Another run for ‘Dat Is Man’

In Dat Is Man, what happens on stage is a tremendously magical force with each cast member holding their own. With its opening last Thursday, the cast hit packed houses with its brisk one-two punches.

Headed by funny man Choo Kong, audiences were thrilled with the expertly executed comic timing of Wendell Etienne, Debra Boucaud Mason, Penelope Spencer and newcomers Andrew Friday and Tova Miller.

The sequel to Run Fuh Yuh Wife, Dat Is Man continues the story centred around taxi-driver and smooth “Don Juan” John Smith ( Choo Kong). John finds himself up to his eyeballs in a convoluted mess trying to juggle two wives (Debra Boucaud Mason and Penelope Spencer). His sexy, secret marital “arrangements” are about to unravel when, oblivious to each other’s existence, his children, a daughter (Tova Miller) and son (Andrew Friday), with the respective wives, unearth the coincidences about each other through a chance meeting on the Internet. To cover up his shenanigans, John employs the skills of his bumbling side-kick Stanley Gardner (Wendell Etienne).

Performances evoked peals of laughter last weekend, — so much so that the play began a second run at Central Bank Auditorium on Tuesday and continues to Sunday. Patrons are urged to book early for ‘Dat Is Man’ at 8.30 pm and matinees at 5.30 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
