RIHANNA AND JOHN LEGEND.
Who are they? Grammy?winning neo?soul musician John Legend and sexy R&B sensation Rihanna!
The popular pair have at least one thing in common: they’ll both be performing at b2 — bmobile’s second Unbeatable Concert on Saturday
Barbados-born Rihanna, who has signed a sponsorship agreement with bmobile, exploded onto the music scene in 2005 with “Pon de Replay” and “If It’s Lovin’ That You Want.”
Following the great success of her gold debut album, Music of the Sun, Rihanna is currently on tour promoting her new album, A Girl Like Me, and the hit tracks “SOS” and “Unfaithful.”
Rihanna last month received two MTV Video Music Award Nominations for the categories Best New Artiste and Viewer’s Choice for her video “SOS (Rescue Me).”
She also recently attracted the attention of a German magazine who wanted her to go topless for a photo shoot, but the 18-year-old R&B babe says she’s determined to be judged by her music alone — just like her idol Alicia Keys.
In a story on Virgin.net, Rihanna says, “That’s what I admire so much about Alicia Keys. She became so successful off of just her music. She was really conservative about her style at first.”
Legend, meanwhile, has made no secret of his love for fine clothes.
In a Q&A forum on his website www.johnlegend.com, he says: “...I do have a weakness for nice designer clothes (some of which I get for free, some of which I overpay for).”
Legend’s sense of style caught the eye of Esquire magazine, which has just named him the second “best-dressed” man in the world — after Daniel Craig, the new James Bond. He is listed at No 2 in the sartorial ranking which appears in the September issue of the magazine.
Esquire had this to say about Legend: “He dresses exactly like he sounds: smooth.”
That smooth sound earned him three 2005 Grammy Awards — Best New Artiste, Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (“Ordinary People”) and Best R&B Album (Get Lifted).
Legend began singing gospel and playing the piano from age five. Born John Stephens in Ohio, the 27-year-old Legend is a singer, songwriter and pianist.
He released his debut album, the platinum selling Get Lifted, in late 2004. It featured collaborations with Kanye West — star of last year’s inaugural bmobile Unbeatable Concert — and rapper Snoop Dogg. From that album came the hits “Used To Love U” and “Ordinary People.”
Legend’s latest single is “Save Room” from his 2006 album, Once Again.
Tickets for b2 are now on sale to the general public at $90.
