‘Best of Mozart’ at UWI

The concert will feature the performance of the Trinidad and Tobago Youth Philharmonic and it is anticipated that 150-string, bass, percussion and woodwind performers will participate in the performance.

The concert will mark the worldwide celebration of Mozart’s 250th birthday. Admission is $100. The classical concert marks the culmination of a workshop held by the SACO designed to sharpen and improve the skills, techniques and musical abilities of the participants. The workshop ran from August 2 to 22. The SACO solicited the assistance of ten professional string musicians/ tutors from the State Foundation for the National System of Youth Orchestras and Choirs in Caracas, Venezuela.

The workshop which was the second of its kind held by the SACO saw participants from other music schools, the Pan Pipers School of Music headed by Louise Mc Intosh, Celeste School of Music headed by Esther Batson and the Court Chamber Orchestra from south Trinidad

For the first time the workshop had students who specialised in percussion, wood wind and brass instruments from the Five Rivers Secondary School, the Bon Air School Music Foundation headed by Leslie Clement and from Tobago Glorious Sounds.

The concert begins at 7.15 pm.
