‘Paisa’ moves to Divali Nagar

The sultry siren executed the role of ‘Judy’ in the drama production Paisa - It’s All About the Money with finesse and style. The crowd could not get enough of her in her villain role, hunting after the money. Saxaphonist Narindra Maharaj did an excellent job serenading the beauty queen through her fascinating scenes.

The script written by Seeta Persad is an exciting story about those caught in greed and those who hold on to faith in a world filled with deceit. The play is a Trini-style story that is set in today’s world.

Paisa features the talent of Anushka Dube, Subrina Bisessarsingh, Mohip Poonwasie, Jennifer Ramdhan, Balraj Harry, Jaishree Jagidhar, Shane Sookdeo, Vishal Persad, Rajiv Singh, Bavina Sookdeo, Ackeem Mohammed, Sabrina Bisessarsingh, Martin Sahadath, Kevin Ramsawaksingh, and Lisa Samlal.

Judy, who is from humble beginning landed in the midst of a lot of money. She is married to Harry but is having an affair with Moonir. She finds refuge in alcohol when her relationship between herself and Moonir falls apart. She finds herself in deep depression. Her life is shattered as she can no longer keep pace with the high standard of life she once was accustomed to. Unable to adjust to the city and forever failing to meet expectations of her idealistic husband Harry, she is trapped.

Harry, (played by Balraj Harry) on the other hand, is a man of principles and character. Caught in a loveless marriage, he carries the burden of an alcoholic as well as unfaithful wife. He wakes one day and realises that the only woman he truly loves is behind bars.

Paisa encompasses drama, comedy, music and dance and depicts the lives of personalities we can relate to. There are scenes that can make you cry, laugh and understand the seduction of greed and how the lust for money can lead to murder and much more. The play will be staged at the Divali Nagar Site, Charlieville, Chaguanas tomorrow at 7.15 pm. The next stop will be at the JFK Auditorium at UWI on September 2 at 7.15 pm.
