Republic Bank gives US$5,000 to ‘Logos II’

The MV Logos which arrived yesterday will officially launch its Book Fair tomorrow. The fair ends on September 22.

At a cheque handover ceremony held at Republic House, Park Street, Port-of-Spain on August 16, Republic Marketing Manager, Michelle Palmer-Keizer said, “Republic Bank has enjoyed a fruitful history with the Logos II; a relationship fuelled by the mutual commitment of both entities to increasing literacy levels, toward creating a positive difference in people’s lives.”

Established since 1989, Logos II is a non-profit charity organisation that provides cultural exchanges, community service initiatives and through the book fair, the vessel has undertaken port programmes in Africa, South America, Europe and the Middle East. Over six million visitors have been welcomed on board worldwide since inception.

This is the fifth time the bank has sponsored the Book Fair’s visit to TT. The bank will also provide ship’s visitors with LINX/Debit Point of Sale and credit card facilities, which can be used to purchase books, videos and other items while on board the Logos II.

The bank said that its sponsorhip of the book exhibition reinforces its commitment to improving the literacy skills of the population and it is pleased to be a part of the MV Logos II’s continued promotion of worldwide literacy and education.
