27 nabbed for drugs

The persons – aged 21 to 61 – were held in two separate exercises by police of the Point Fortin CID and the Crime Suppression Unit (CSU).

In the South-Western district, Point Fortin CID arrested 27 persons in an exercise conducted between 2 and 10 pm.

Police reports stated that of the arrested – 18 were detained on outstanding warrants and narcotics offences, while the others were held for obscene language and disorderly behaviour.

The exercise was spearheaded by Snr Superintendent Samuel Jemmot and included officers of the Siparia CID. Meanwhile in Marabella, CSU officers during an exercise between 8 am and 1 pm arrested nine men who were caught with marijuana.

Police reports indicated that the men were arrested along the Southern Main Road.

The exercise was led by Inspector Singh and included Sgts Mohammed, Soodeen, and others of the CSU.
