Ejections mar b-ball clash

With Drillers leading the match 88-78 and under four minutes to play in the fourth and final quarter, the referees ejected Lewis, and Marvin Celestine and Jason Cadiz of Drillers for unsportsman-like conduct.

The Army and Drillers met in the feature match-up on the night’s double-header, in which forward Ako Pascal was the star.

Pascal sank 27 points to guide his team to a victory that can help them earn a place in the Big-Four finals.

Drillers were always ahead of the reigning zonal champions, 20-17, after the first quarter and 48-40 ahead at half time.

When the third session expired it was Drillers 65-57 keeping Defence Force at bay.

Centre Damion Caton chipped in with 13 for Drillers while guard Owin De Coteau got ten. For the Defence Force, Steven Lewis top-scored with 20 while Wayne Sandy got 14 and Peter Lewis 13.

In the first match, Detour Shak Attack showed their superiority over last-placed Trailblazers with a 114-71 victory.

The match allowed Shak Attack to gain a lead on the eight-team table on T&T Elite who were on top of the league before Shak Attack took the lead, playing 12 matches, two less than Elite’s 14.

By the end of the first quarter, Shak Attack were already showing their dominance, leading Trailblazers 28-14.

By the end of the second quarter, Shak Attack were able to increase their lead mainly through the efforts of Terrance Mayers and Kurt Christian who scored 20 and 16 points respectively.

The third quarter was much of the same from Shak Attack who displayed a fine team performance, ending the third quarter 92-54.

Shak Attack finished the match 114-71. Ajuma Jaramogi scored 13 for Trailblazers while his team-mate Michael Sandiford got 12.
