‘It is not our jurisdiction’

He was told it was not their area. I am not surprised reading in the Newsday on July 22, 2006 where two officers in the Police Mobile Unit on Nelson Street in Port-of-Spain refused to help S Thomas of Maraval after being robbed on Charlotte Street. That person was sent to Besson Street, then to St Vincent Street station and was told the familiar words that it was not their jurisdiction.

Now these familiar words: “It is not our jurisdiction” are not strange words to ACP Cooper, yet it continues to happen to members of the public in this country.

It has been reported that those officers are instructed not to leave the Police Mobile Unit. Now my question to ACP Cooper is, if that is true, why are taxpayers’ money being spent for these Police Mobile Units and they are not serving members of the public in downtown Port-of-Spain? How long ACP Cooper, how long CoP Trevor Paul, do we the citizens of TT have to wait for the Police Service to be cleaned up?
