Time to follow Hassanali

Mr Hassanali though meek and humble by nature, was a man of impeccable character and a gentleman in every sense of the word and with the highest degree of morality, spirituality and ethical standards. Noor Hassanali I am sure held the respect and admiration of every citizen of this country regardless of creed or race or social standing.

Although I never had the opportunity of meeting Mr Hassanali in person, I had the pleasure of speaking to him on the telephone in response to a letter that I had written to him in connection with certain problems that were adversely affecting the organisation of which I was secretary at the time. His Excellency at the time, indicated that he understood the problems outlined in my letter and that he had spoken to the various relevant authorities with a view to alleviating them as far as possible.

At the end of the conversation, Mr Hassanali indicated to me that there was one paragraph I in which the wording was a bit intemperate but he would not hold that against me, as being a regular reader of my many letters to the EDITOR, he realised that I was in the habit of calling a spade a spade and I should continue writing my letters which he looked forward to reading.

What a pity that our politicians cannot emulate the qualities possessed by this illustrious gentleman.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to Mrs Zalayhar Hassanali and family on the passing of their dearly beloved one.
