The first auditions for the series were held at “We Village” in Arima on Saturday August 26. There, eager hopefuls sang gospel, contemporary, parang, rapso, and conscious music acapella style. There were also a few dance numbers and even a puppet show.

The ten semi-finalists chosen for a return performance were Melicia Harrikisoon, Cheryl Frederick, Nacharma Oliver, Lindy Allen and Kervyn Rayside, Ricardo Learmont, Anderson Josiah and Kelly La Juenesse, Mario Herreira, Tekeisha Huddlin, Tramaine Lamy, and Mark Eastman.

Encouraged by the audition turn out, Rising Stars executive producer, Nicole Des Vignes stated, “The Arima auditions clearly showed that Trinidad and Tobago is a country filled with undiscovered talent. We can’t wait to see what happens when we go to other areas.”

The Rising Stars reality TV series is said to be extremely successful in other Caribbean islands, especially in Jamaica. In TT, the main prize is a management contract with Question Mark Entertainment, one of the most established management companies in TT.
