Man shot dead

Police sources said at about 9.40 pm on Wednesday two men armed with knives and cutlasses went into Visions Bar on the Eastern Main Road, Tunapuna, and announced a hold-up. An off-duty police officer, who was on the premises, shot one of the bandits in the head and chest with his service revolver. The other bandit escaped.

Officers from the Tunapuna Police Station visited the scene with a district medical officer and the body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre for a postmortem. Investigations are continuing.
