Free space for churches

During the mammoth four-day family-oriented, gospel-centred, visual and performing arts exposition, there will be a food fair of local and indigenous menus; sale and exhibition of preserves, jams, jellies and cordials handicraft and artisan goods; garment and accessories and a wide range of manufactured items, goods and services.

Set against a back drop of praise and worship in Tobago, churches and organisations across the country can take advantage of this opportunity to raise funds, present, promote and advertise their programmes and activities and disseminate information.

In addition, Christian storytellers, Sabbath and Sunday school ministers may register to hold sessions.

“Tobago Godspel Fiesta 2007” is the expansion of an idea by young, Tobago-born pastor, Peter George, of the Penal Deliverance Centre. It is designed to offer a credible, holistic, peaceful and sober alternative options during the upcoming Carnival season and will run from February 17 to 20, 2007.

Several community centres will be available for group camps during this period.

The event is being jointly undertaken by the Community Unification and Reformation Exercises (CURE) a group comprising followers of local Christian churches and movements such as the Adventists, Nazarenes, Weslyan Holiness and Pentecostal fraternities and the Gospel Warriors coordinating team.

The organisers pointed out that the event is more about “Jesus Christ” and the invitation is being extended to all Christian assemblies in the “Body of Christ.”

“This is not about the Pentecostals, nor the Adventists nor the Church of God,” explained a Gospel Warriors spokesperson.

“We are seeking to have the church of Jesus Christ join hands to address common challenges we face, but at the same time, allowing all entities to maintaining their own unique identities.”
