Promising soundtracks for 2007

Aap Ka Surroor — The Moviee

Music: Himesh Reshammiya

He gave his best when he was composing for other singers. He gave his best when he was composing songs with him doubling as a singer. And now one expects nothing but the best when he composes and sings for himself as a leading actor. Facing the camera for the big screen to tell his own love story, Himesh Reshammiya triples up as a composer/singer/actor for Aap Ka Surroor - The Moviee which is touted to be the costliest and most extravagant movie ever coming out of India. Yes, we are waiting!

Awaarapan

Music: Himesh Reshammiya

Shaad Ali has enjoyed successful soundtracks in his past two films Saathiya and Bunty Aur Babli. Shankar Ehsaan Loy had a hat-trick of big hits in the form of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Don and Salaam-E-Ishq. Together they come up with Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom, yet another dream project with Yash Raj Films which stars Abhishek Bachchan, Bobby Deol, Preity Zinta and Amitabh Bachchan in a special role. Will there be a kajrare yet again?

Jodhaa Akbar

Music: AR Rahman

Think historical and the name that comes to mind is AR Rahman. Though Rahman has himself confessed that he has probably done too many historicals, dream merchants still fight it out to rope him as the composer when it comes to making music with a difference. Also, for someone like Ashutosh Gowarikar who has worked with Rahman in his last two films Lagaan and Swades, it was difficult to pick any other composer for this magnum opus starring Hrithik and Ash.

Lajjo

Music: AR Rahman

When a team like Mani Ratnam, Bobby Bedi and Aamir Khan comes together, the project is meant to be big. And when a project is big, the only composer that comes to mind is AR Rahman. Working on two of the biggest soundtracks of the year, Rahman should have some great soundtracks to offer to music lovers after Rang De Basanti and Guru.

Metro

Music: Pritam

This could well be one of the defining soundtracks of the new year. Experimenting with the very concept of song placement in a film, Metro comes with an idea of a rock band being specially formed for the movie. Comprising of three-five members, this rock band would be crooning tracks composed by Pritam and would also be making appearances in the movie a multiple number of times at crucial junctures.

Om Shanti Om

Music: Vishal-Shekhar, Pyarelal

This may have been the third big project for AR Rahman but call it the good luck of Vishal-Shekhar, they were the ones to ultimately bag the project. After Main Hoon Naa, Farah Khan and Shyam being the producers who have enjoyed one musical success after another with Himesh Reshammiya in the past, The Train becomes an exciting musical prospect. Director duo of the film is quite confident about the music.
