Tapistree Studios hosts beauty seminar

The seminar will be held on Saturday April 21, at the Trinidad Country Club, Maraval, from 3.30 pm. Fine will be holding a three-hour tutorial session for beauty professionals, which will include a question and answer segment.

Also on the cast will be Trinidadian born Nikima Frenche (aesthetician and owner of Le Chateau de Frenche in New York), Dr Lionel Meyers and Stacey Codrington. Entertainment will take the form of a musical performance by the group H20 PHLO as well as a fashion show.

Tapistree’s decision to host the event came after 14 months in operation, during which time it has maintained a holistic approach to beauty and beauty practices, the owners say. The salon has hosted beauty parties, bra-fitting parties, and even held a six-week beauty camp last August where 16 teenage girls got the opportunity to explore all facets of the beauty world.

Stacey explained that with the hectic schedules many women today have to cope with, there is less time available to tend to basic beauty needs.

“As a beautician, every day I come across women, who, as a result of escalating stress levels, are experiencing physical signs of depletion in their bodies evident by the increased occurrences of sudden hair loss or major breakage, and sometimes even serious skin conditions.

“With time for oneself now being a rare commodity, I felt the need to educate women in areas related to personal hair and skin-care, relaxation practices, like meditation, and of course the theory of make-up and its application.

“My belief is that with this knowledge, when a client is unable to keep a salon appointment, being informed enough to maintain their own beauty until salon pampering time presents itself, is a great asset to the client. It has also always been my firm belief that informed clients are the best kind,” she added.

Since the salon’s first beauty party held last year on Mother’s Day, there have been countless requests from clients and other interested women encouraging Stacey to host a personal make-up class for women not interested in make-up as a career, but just those who want to understand the different aspects of make-up and make-up application as it applies to their own faces.

“With a hectic schedule of my own, being a wife, mother of three daughters and a business owner, I too found this request difficult to fulfil. Yet I felt that those on the pleading end, already having waited so long, deserved a tutorial from the best in the business, hence the much awaited seminar, ‘Blush,’ featuring Sam Fine.”
