RBTT dominate in Inter-Bank football

The boys from RBTT took control of the match from the whistle and the early pressure paid off with a goal from Lawrence “Spanner” George who converted a freekick.

The goal seemed to wake up the Aero Services team as they finally found their rhythm and offence and deservedly equalised with a brilliant 30-yard shot from Dane Hospedales.

The momentum swung to Aero Services’ favour and they came close to taking the lead when Anton Marin collected a through pass and slot the ball past the RBTT goalkeeper who dived the wrong way but somehow managed to get a toe onto the ball which trickled past the post.

RBTT rode their luck defensively and offensively as they grabbed the winner in somewhat freakish circumstances when their right winger crossed a ball to their forwards but the ball sailed into the net.

The second match continued the old rivalry between the two most successful teams in the IBFL but Eastern Credit Union emerged 1-0 winners against Central Bank.

Fans were treated to a skilful display of organised and sometimes breathtaking play.

Most were concentrated in the midfield and goal mouth action was few and far between.

The two-time defending champions Eastern Credit Union and CBTT both waited to capitalise on each other’s mistakes and it came as no surprise that a setplay broke the deadlock.

A CBTT corner from the right by “Marvellous” Marvin Faustin was flicked on by Keston Wright for Darren Castillo who made no mistake in finding the net.

After the goal the defensive work by Neville Rodriguez and Carl De Souza of Eastern and Daryl Gouveia and T Rollock of CBTT ensured there was no change in the score.

At RBL Ground, Barataria, UTC pounded in two goals to put themselves in a comfortable position but CITI rallied and scored three unanswered goals for a splendid victory.

The UTC goals came from Darius Ramroop and Allistair Williams while Marc Anatol, Sheldon Mondezie and Ronald Phillips were on target for CITI.

In the second match, Republic Bank beat Scotia 1-0 on a goal from Nicholas Thompson. The RBL keeper was splendid between the uprights to preserve the lead.

In another match, TATECO defeated newcomers Sagicor 3-1 with goals from Keron Griffith, Johann Andrews and Keron Clarke.

Sagicor’s lone item came from Sean Ramdoo Jr.
