India’s 60th Independence
Celebrations were not confined to India but were held in every corner of the world by members of the diaspora.
Celebrations ranged from a grand mela in London to grand parades in major US cities and world capitals.
There were dinners (not $100,000 ones) and flag raising ceremonies.
But what did the Indian diaspora in TT do to commemorate the historic milestone? Nihi. Not a thing! It seems that once we see a nice Bollywood tear jerke and wine up to some chutney we don’t concern ourselves with anything else pertaining to the land of our forefathers! Maybe we are afraid to do so.
