Green Machine whip Trinity East

Trinity East, winners of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) East Zone Senior Division, held the “Green Machine” at bay at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima until the second half when Brandon Rupert broke the deadlock, while Kareem Paul and Theon Forde got the other strikes for St Augustine.

The “Green Machine” will meet the “Dial Dynamos” Arima in the semifinal round after Arima spanked Hillview 4-0 yesterday, with second half goals from Darius Rawlins, Hayden De Verteuil and a pair from Nicholas Armstrong.

Three matches were contested in the Central Zone, with Presentation Chaguanas humiliating SSFL Central Zone Senior Division winners Preysal High School 11-1 at Presentation Ground.

Memucan Stephen netted five goals for the hosts while Derone Davis and Satyam Pollard each netted twice, with one apiece from Dwayne Nicome and Isiah Tidd. Akido Joseph got the consolation item for Preysal.

Waterloo got a double from Wendell Archibald and one from Kevin Dick as they edged Marabella 3-2 in the first match of a double-header at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.

The other game required kicks-from-the-penalty spot as Chaguanas prevailed 5-4 after the scores were goalless following 120 minutes of action. Three quarterfinal matches are on today’s agenda, including a North Zone double-header at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, with the Subway-sponsored “Westmoorings Tigers” St Anthony’s meeting St Mary’s at 3 pm while QRC and Mucurapo square off two hours later.

And, in the sister isle, Speyside and Bishop’s will oppose each other from 4 pm at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet.
