Curry duck draws thousands to Mayaro
Although the competition started at approximately 12 noon, onlookers began to assemble as early as 9.30 am.
The competition was a huge success as 24 contestants put a lot of effort and creativity into their presentations to the judges. They were awarded prizes for Best Presentation, Most Original Stove and Largest Cooking Posse.
The largest team came out with as many as 56 members. Cooking was judged on taste, texture and the aroma of their curry duck and vegetarian dhal.
The judges had a difficult task as each team cheered, sang and even danced as the judges approached.
Onlookers were treated to live entertainment as the TTEC Gayatones took the stage at 2 pm and thrilled the crowd for almost four hours.
Accompanying them were guest artistes Anil Bheem, Sally Sagram, Neeshan ‘The Hitman’ Prabhoo, Rikki Jai and a surprise guest appearance by Soca Elvis.
They were also tantalised by the local group ‘Tassa Invaders.
