TT teams for Olympics of Offshore Fishing in Mexico

This is the second time that this team will be taking part in what is popularly known as the Olympics of offshore fishing. The first time was in 2006 when the team was led by Steven Valdez of Team Brave Heart after winning the 2005 Tobago Game Fishing Association Tournament in Charlotteville, Tobago.

Charles Ross was an original member of the team that made it to Cabo San Lucas, “The Marlin Capital of the World” that year. He has been replaced by Mark Gransuall for this year’s competition. Team Charge Up, led by Sheldon Wong Chong, with crew members Charissa Fuller, Roger Aleong and Stuart Hutton also qualified, the most prestigious bluewater sportfishing tournament in the world, when they won the Trinidad and Tobago Game Fishing Association (TTGFA) “Marlin Madness” Tournament in Tobago in April 2007.

Sixty-three teams from around the globe are set to participate in the 2008 championship, being held in one of the world’s most exotic locations, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

This premier destination welcomes international fishermen to the very tip of the Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez in the shadow of the famous Cabo Arch.

IGFA qualifying events were held in 38 countries and territories plus 14 states. Team updates can be found on www.igfa.org/tour.asp
