Six months jail for stealing restaurant food
Jaggesh Bisram, of Mahadeo Trace, Debe, was sentenced to six months in jail by a San Fernando magistrate for the offence of larceny of a plate of food and a pack of cigarettes.
Bisram, 38, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Alicia Chankar in the Fourth Court to answer the charge.
Police court prosecutor, Sgt Shereen Theodore-Persad, told the court that Bisram and an another man entered Fu-Huw Restaurant on Southern Main Road, St Margaret’s Village, Claxton Bay, at at about 3 pm on Tuesday.
They ordered food and cigarettes which amounted to $222. The court heard that after they ate the food, they were asked to pay for the items by the owner-Li Mi Sue. However, Bisram and his accomplice ran off and Sue, together with his workers, gave chase.
Bisram was held a short distance away and the St Margaret’s Police Station was contacted.
Cpl Ronald Phillip responded and arrested and charged Bisram.
In passing sentence, Chankar told Bisram that he will get free food in jail for the next six months.
