Warriors vs Cuba game still on
Fay which is the sixth named tropical storm of the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season, is expected to become a Category One hurricane if its winds reach up to 74 miles per hour. Team administrator of the TT Football Federation, Cheryl Abrams, assured that the Warriors were focused on tomorrow’s game.
“Everything is fine. The players weren’t affected in any way. We did experience some rain and strong winds, but overall, conditions are good at this time,” Abrams said in a telephone interview from Cuba, yesterday.
She said the players were staying at the Melia Coheba Hotel in Havana, while Tropical Storm Fay had passed over a neighbouring county altogether. “The players were never in any danger. Their morale is high and they are looking forward to a great game,” she said.
In Florida yesterday, a hurricane warning was issued and many people were boarding up the windows of their homes and businesses. TT Consul General in Miami, Gerard Green, said people have been advised “to get ready.”
