Tamana man drowns in Toco

Andrew Beharry of Nestor Village, Four Roads, Tamana, was found floating at around 8 am yesterday.

According to reports Beharry, and four friends were at the seaside when he strayed from the group. It is believed that Beharry walked down to the river, and took a dive.

His friends told police that they began searching for him when they were packing to return home but he was nowhere to be found. They then reported the matter to police.

Several searches were carried out on Saturday night but were all futile.

Police officers attached to the Matura Police Station received a call around 8 am yesterday telling them a man’s body was floating in the Salibia river.

Upon investigations the corpse was identified as that of Andrew Beharry.

District Medical Officer Dr Juanakepli viewed the body, and ordered it removed to the Sangre Grande mortuary.Inquiries are continuing.
