The first module, “Fundamental Principles of Asset Management”, was launched last November.

Participants came from companies such as Petrotrin, BG Group, Atlantic LNG, to name a few.

John Woodhouse, managing director, The Woodhouse Partnership Limited and chair of the developments and standards committee at the Institute of Asset Management, facilitated the programme over a five-day period and received very high ratings from participants.

He has also chaired the British Standards/IAM committee for PAS 55, and is currently leading the PAS 55 update project. Additionally, he has led the multi-industry Competencies Project and developed a framework on the management of critical assets, launched in June 2006. Asset Management has emerged as a robust and comprehensive discipline for selecting, implementing and integrating the right methods and processes, developing the understanding, commitment and alignment of the workforce, and embedding the habits of genuine continuous improvement.

It is the umbrella for the components of good initiatives and a joined-up view, resulting in optimal, sustainable value-for-money in the life cycle management of the organisation’s varied assets.

The programme consists of four modules which is delivered over four months (one module per month), with time associated for coursework/mentoring. At the end of the programme participants will receive a Master Certificate in Asset Management, from both the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business and The Woodhouse Partnership.
