Republic stages mock interviews

The Republic Bank- sponsored World of Work (WOW) programme recently conducted mock interview sessions for third year UWI students  at the UWI campus. Held in conjunction with the UWI Alumni Association, WOW was a three-part initiative aimed at preparing students for the professional world. On the opening day of the programme, students received resume writing tips from Managing Director of Regency Recruitment, Lara Quentrall-Thomas. One of WOW’s past participants, Keisha Persad, also gave a testimonial in which she stated that the WOW programme was of invaluable help to her.

“The mock interview sessions really helped me. It was the first I had in such an environment and it prepared me for my first real interview.” Many students echoed Keisha’s sentiments, noting that they were very grateful to have been given an opportunity to receive important advice on handling interviews. For quite a few of the students it was the first time that they had undergone a job interview. The students were given a host of interview questions to answer and were rated on a scale of one to five, with the criteria ranging from dress code to voice level. The Recruitment Fair was a golden opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with the various organisations from around the region that are actively seeking to employ outstanding university graduates, the bank said.
