Trevor Farrell now Scotiabank deputy chairman
Economist Dr Trevor Farrell has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Scotiabank, Trinidad and Tobago Limited. Farrell replaced Audley Walker as Deputy Chairman, who retired from the bank’s Board of Directors on April 21, 2005, after serving as a director since 1987. Farrell has served as a director of Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago Limited since January 1991, and at present, is a business consultant and part-time lecturer at the University of the West Indies. Dr Farrell holds a BA with First Class Honors from McGill University, Montreal and a Masters and PhD degrees in Economics from Cornell University. His career to date has spanned areas of business, government and academia. He has specialised in Business and Industrial Economics, and also in Strategic Planning. Farell has been involved in management training for a number of years with the MBA programme at the Institute of Business and has taught and conducted research at the UWI for many years. His published writings span a range of areas. He has also done consultancies with a wide variety of international organisations, including Caricom Secretariat, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the OAS, UNIDO, and the World Bank. His work for these organisations has taken him through the Caribbean, South America, Europe and Africa. Farell holds membership in both the British Strategic Planning Society and the Planning Forum of the USA.
