The difference of UNC MPs — Case of chalk and cheese
THE EDITOR: There is presently a difference of opinion towards which direction the UNC should go in the very near future, but has anyone noticed the total contrast between both bodies with this difference of opinion? Group One — Leaders who could hold their own and hod their heads high in or out of Parliament, based on their track record and the respect that they hold in society. I refer to persons such as Winston Dookeran, Gerald Yetming, and the others who apparently did not sign the petition, such as Sadiq Baksh, Roodal Moonilal, and even the two out of favour MPs, Fuad Khan and Gillian Lucky. Group Two — A group that no one knows what they are doing productive other than causing division, embarrassment to the party everyone they speak, and sheer mayhem Chandresh Sharma — Apparently the embarrassment he caused the party with the teacup brawl was not enough, so he continues his charade. Kelvin Ramnath — A man who was thrown out of the party years ago, and said that Panday had sold out the Indians in this country, and only recently he made a statement alluding to the fact that if you are not of African or Indian origin, then you should not have any say in the national interests of this country. Adesh "Paradigum" Nanan, and others who have made virtually no worthwhile contribution towards increasing the UNC chances at the next elections. To those who will be voting at the upcoming UNC elections, please take note of the difference in character, standard and class of both groups, where one talks unity and progress, the other talks of hijackers and as Kelvin Ramnath put it in his usual prejudiced tone, "Those who never cut cane or worked in a lagoon now trying to come and take over the party." If this is the quality of the leaders that the UNC wants, then we are doomed to be in Opposition for years to come, which would not be a problem for the non-productive group, as they appear more comfortable on that side anyway.
