Ticket sales anomaly
THE EDITOR: First I would like to congratulate the TT team on what could only be described as a tremendous effort to procure a credible victory against Mexico. However the gist of this writing focuses on the Income and Expenditure statement produced by the LOC Germany 2006 Limited. How is it that the ticket sales from the TT-Mexico match only brought in $1,971,087? The stadium was filled with 25,000 people. The tickets for the covered stands, which can hold about 8,000 patrons, were sold for $200 each. The tickets for the uncovered stands, which by deduction would accommodate 17,000 people, were sold for $100 each. We know that the norm is to give out complimentary tickets to officials, well wishers and sponsors. However, if we assume that as much as 4,000 complimentary tickets are given for people to sit in the covered stands (which seem inconceivable), then the revenue generated for ticket sales should amount to at least $2,500,00 ie $800,000 from the tickets sold for the covered stands and $1,700,000 from the tickets sold from the uncovered stands. Can someone from the LOC Germany 2006 Limited explain this anomaly? A GLEN Petit Valley
