Thanks for nothing, EMA
THE EDITOR: While it is not my intention to sound like a stuck record, I would like to again enquire whether the EMA is interested in enforcing the law in relation to noise pollution at some point in the future and before the end of this decade? Fed up of writing letters, complaints, calling and liasing with Environmental Police Officers with absolutely no interest shown by EMA officials in performing their duties, one is left to conclude that the Authority is being selective in its chosen endeavours, with noise pollution being non-existent on its list of priorities. And while the Minister for Public Utilities and the Environment has been attentive to the point of responding to our plea for assistance, even forwarding our concerns to the EMA with request for follow-up, it appears that the EMA has other ideas and has blatantly disregarded Minister’s directives. Certainly, I have had no feedback in relation to my complaint, and although EMA officers dropped by my home in June 2005, I have heard not one peep to suggest that any action was taken, but of course, the loud music continues. One fails to comprehend how an Authority can refuse to act in the face of public discontent, it is truly amazing that these officials can sleep at night, but perhaps they can...I am sure there’s no noise where EMA officials live. Keep up the sterling "work," EMA, and many thanks for copious amounts of nothing. I sincerely hope that whomever is responsible for the frustration our citizens face as a result of the EMA’s incompetence, is able to live with his/her conscience, which I speculate may one day be noisier than my neigbours.
