Tricks of the Political Trade

THE EDITOR: The government and the people of Trinidad and Tobago remind me of a bad love relationship, they just tell the people what they want to hear for life to go on.

The government is secretly cleaning up the streets of vagrants/homeless people, it’s true, but why break the secret? Want attention? Want to distract from the main concern of crime? Shouldn’t the people just walk through the city and just recognise the homeless are gone? Why tell people there are leads on the recent bombing? Why mention Mr Big, as far as I know that is a snack. Should we feel safer by those statements? Trust me, the people might feel a little safer when they hear "guilty" and a sentencing right after. Yes, tell the people about free tertiary education, but you never told them that nothing comes free. Why? Do the people know in life, everything must balance? When one thing gets cheaper, another gets expensive, like gas.

What else? Should the people listen when you say "we will clean up Charlotte Street" or we should just walk down the street and recognise it’s clean? Should we listen when you say "we are clearing up the drains" or we should just recognise there are no more floods? Are we to feel safer with our Eye in the Sky and Blimp that you spent millions on?

That is either not working, or rarely/not operational, which makes the millions spent useless. I prefer a camera on each street corner in the city; it may cost less and be more effective. Is it true, once a politician, always a politician. Stop using the tricks of the trade "political game" and treat the people like they should be , and not like fools.

Be serious for once. Action speaks louder than words, as a picture is equivalent to1 million words. Don’t let words be your action, let your action be action.
