Golden Arch more practical

THE EDITOR: Please publish this open letter to Works Minister Colm Imbert. I could not agree more with the concerns and suggestions expressed by Robert Johnson. Humphrey’s design of The Golden Arch and roundabout concept is infinitely simpler, more elegant and practical. It is far superior than your government’s design as shown on the cover of the Contact magazine.

This might be the first interchange in the world with traffic lights. Humphrey’s design has none of this and seems to take up a lot less space.

I too would like to make an appeal to you sir, to put politics aside and give Humphrey’s design some consideration. Just because he was involved with a different political party does not mean you should spite his ideas.

I now challenge you to ask for a public referendum on both designs. Let the people who have had to endure in that traffic spending four hours a day for the last 40 years, vote on the design that they would prefer.

This is one way in which the taxpaying public can know whether or not the interest of this country is in the mind of your government. This is taxpayers’ money, sir.
