How inhumane can man get?

THE EDITOR: Christmas is just around the corner and most of us are looking for "cute" little gifts for kids (and some animal loving adults as well). I am sure that most people have seen the amazingly lifelike little kittens, cats and puppies now available.

A friend of mine called me and told me that he had seen a most upsetting and graphic show on the BBC filmed in an open Chinese market by a British journalist who had secreted a video camera in his hat to let the outside world know exactly how this is achieved. The dogs and cats were being skinned alive to get the pelts — and there were scores more beautiful animals stacked in cages at their sides just waiting their turn. It would be bad enough to kill them for their pelts, but to do it in such an inhumane way is unforgivable.

I would ask that you register your disgust at this appalling torture of animals for profit by not purchasing any such items. In fact, all civilised societies should seek to ban the importation of same. And they wonder why bird flu is attacking people in China!
