Keishea and Sarika heat up JMC 3Veni

THE sexy songstress Keishea Stewart has teamed up with Sarika Mahabir to do chutney and remixed tunes with the band JMC 3Veni. Keishea is no stranger to the big stages in TT as she was one of the top singers with Byron Lee and Atlantik.

Dressed in a denim jacket and short skirt the charming Keishea had the crowds in San Juan eating out of her hand when she did the tune ‘Doi Festival’ with Sarika. The song which carries Tamil language mixed with Hindi and English is now climbing the charts at the East Indian frequencies.

Speaking about her new-found love for chutney, Keisha says:

"Well I have always been open to anything coming my way. Therefore when I was asked to record this song I felt lucky to be chosen among the many artistes in the Caribbean."

Keishea who placed fifth in both the Soca Monarch and the Groovy Soca Monarch competitions has been performing in Jamaica with Byron Lee. She was also contracted to sing on the Celebrity Cruise Line for many months.

Keishea was a hot number when she performed alongside the Caribbean artistes in Germany, New York and many other countries. Blessed with a powerful and melodious voice, she has been singing Latin, French, Spanish and R&B for more than 12 years and continues to enjoy a wave of popularity since joining JMC 3Veni.

As for celebrity singer Sarika, she is ready and waiting for the upcoming big shows.

"Listen I have the hot tunes to deliver and I am warning the crowds to be aware of Sarika for this upcoming Carnival season," she warns. Well known for her controversial chutney song such as ‘Neighbour’s Man’ and "Yeh Larka," Sarika says that "Doi Festival" will certainly mash up the parties for this upcoming festive season.

JMC 3Veni recently returned to TT after another successful North American and European tour and has released a new CD entitled The Future with songs "Yada Lawa," "Chuie Chuie" and the hot "Doi Festival." According the band’s music director Veerendra Persad, promoters have booked the band for many of the top Carnival shows.

The band will be providing music for Chutney Soca Monarch, Chutney Glow, Chutney Brass and are booked for many of the all-inclusive fetes leading up to Carnival 2006.

The band has changed its face and is busy rehearsing new releases of soca tunes in prepration for its hectic Carnival schedule. JMC 3Veni has copped several awards including "Best Sounding Band" at DownTown Carnival competition and also "Best Soca Band."

Keishea was contracted to give the band a balance that is needed for the Carnival season, according to Veerendra who described Keishea as "truly a Caribbean performer."

"She understands the crowds in Carnival and she has what it takes to be a frontline singer and I believe she is a plus for the band," he said.

Keishea and Sarika are ready and are already dominating the chutney soca arena. They will be joined by Mastana Bahar grand prize winner Sudesh Jagroo who will be part of the JMC 3Veni crew for this year.
