We need more people like Gillian
THE EDITOR: I would like, through the medium of your newspaper, to express the following. There is much ado about Ms Gillian Lucky’s joining the defence team because of the charges made against Mr Franklin Khan of misconduct in public office. This is a situation that is somewhat interesting, because there is no precedent in living memory that can be recalled. Ms Gillian Lucky is a lady of independent thought who adheres to the principle of morals whether in politics or otherwise. Although she is decried by members of the UNC gang, she could well be one of the heroes of modern Trinidad and Tobago politics who does the right thing and could be regarded as exemplary. There are many UNC members who are charged with corruption whose cases are still ongoing. Members of the UNC comprising the hierarchy seem to be bankrupt of anything that is commendable or exemplary in their behavioural pattern. No wonder Ms Gillian Lucky and colleagues have disassociated themselves from the political antics displayed by members of the UNC. In our modern Trinidad and Tobago politics, more people like Ms Gillian Lucky are needed if our political agendas are to be put on the right course. DA COSTA MC DONALD Point Fortin
