Dookeran reminds me of Dr Williams
THE EDITOR: It was refreshing to hear a new brand of political thought at the forum on “Ethics, Unity and Politics” hosted by the Political Leader of the UNC. The utterances of the Hon Winston Dookeran were reminiscent of the era of Dr Eric Williams which gave birth to a new political vision through his thought- provoking lectures. Mr Dookeran’s stately elegance and intellectual delivery was so symbiotic with that of the mind of the “Father of the Nation” that one could have felt the reincarnation of that era in our politics.
It is no wonder, that the standing ovation which the Political Leader received was supported by the high profiled panelist of Kenneth Lalla, Desmond Allum, Professor John La Guerre and Dr Majorie Thorpe. There was no “mauvais languS:e”, no attack on any person, no character assassination but pure political inspiration calling for the establishment of principles in politics and by his own example enacting the values to support these principles.
