God, Manning help us

THE EDITOR: Mr Prime Minister, rents are too high, food too expensive, read my solutions. Please Sir, look at the cost of apartments in the daily newspapers. Lower income people earning up to $3,500 per month cannot afford to pay rent for a one bedroom apartment at a cost of $1,500 per month with children included. To do so it will be difficult to survive. Food is expensive, people get sick, people are sick. Transport to and from school and work costs a fortune.

Dr Eric Williams had a direct input in the rentals years ago. Could you do the same? I suggest that all landlords and prospective tenants visit the Rent Assessment Board before actually renting an apartment just to make certain that the rent charged is just. If the landlord has a lawyer, the tenant has to pay the lawyer fees. That does not seem right. Some landlords insist that the tenant pay the water rate and the yard cleaner. It is too much. May God in his goodness lead and guide and may you be responsive to Him through us. Don’t leave us out, we pray for you, we love and care for you. God has given you to us, don’t abandon us.
