Sci-fi toys vs criminals
THE EDITOR: It seems that over the past few weeks, the signal emerging from the Government’s approach to managing the nation’s crimewave appears to include futuristic sci-fi and technology-driven solutions. It is almost the wish list of any politically-incorrect, young child: helicopters, speed boats, additional surveillance blimp in the interest of national security. Is it the intention of the Government to outplay the criminals at fun and games or to really address the fundamental causes of crime and its roots in our communities? RAVI LUTCHMAN Barataria
