Hire foreigners to run country
THE EDITOR: Having been accustomed to planning and executing many projects of a variety of things during my lifetime with no difficulty or delay and with no cost over runs incurred. It amazes me to see the inordinate and unnecessary time that it takes the government of this country to even start far less complete the simplest projects that they embark upon. Although the Churchill Roosevelt Highway which was built by the US Corps of army engineers as a temporary road to last the duration of World War Two and which has endured close to 65 years of daily use in a matter of months, it seems to take the government of this country just as long to repair a stretch of road less than five miles long. I am neither an architect nor civil engineer, I designed and supervised the construction of my own home in 1972 from start to finish without any setbacks or delays and well within the estimated cost and it is still standing as solid as a rock up to this day. In 1974 when I was employed by Texaco and was secretary of the rifle section of the Forest Reserve club, I re-designed and supervised the reconstruction of the Rifle range to bring it in line with international standards and later on designed and supervised the construction of a club house on the range complete with toilet and washroom facilities and personally carried out the installation of plumbing and electricity as well as the construction of all the firing points and target points that are still in use up to the present time. I have also redesigned several automobiles and modified and customised many more and in many instances improved on the original manufacturer’s design. Since I am just one individual who has always been able to accomplish everything that I have set out to do, I have wondered why with a quantity of ministers, permanent secretaries, engineers, technicians and thousands of workers and millions of dollars worth of modern equipment, the government is incapable of starting projects far less completing them on time and always at twice the estimated cost. Since with all the local brain and man power at their disposal the Government seems to be incapable of doing anything right, I would strongly suggest that foreign expertise be sought to run the affairs of government and the present administration take a permanent leave of absence.
