I resent TTEC increase
THE EDITOR: I want to join in the chorus among the business sectors and other individuals, especially domestic consumers to say that I resent any increase in TTEC rates. It is unimaginable and ironic to think that in a country with a GDP of over $16 billion in hydrocarbon revenue that consumers and users of electricity are being called upon to pay an increase. Unthinkable. Un-thinkable. We are already faced with an astronomical cost of living or galloping inflation, and if we are impelled to pay an increased TTEC rate, it would mean a further reduction in the purchasing power of the dollar.
This will result in regressive indirect taxation and will greatly affect those with low income as well as those on fixed income eg old age pensioners and recipients of public assistance. Because of torrential rain resulting in livestock and vegetables being washed away consumers will have to brace themselves for further increase in market goods. If Government is really a caring and considerate one as it professes to be, then we can confidently look forward to the government’s subsidisation of the increased TTEC rate.
