Calypsonians sparing PNM

THE EDITOR: The 2006 Carnival and calypso season is here and in full swing. As we know there are many calypsonians who have supported the ruling PNM party over the years and have made no bones about showing their support in their songs. They have also demonised the prior government in their songs, even when that party was out of office for years and not in control of anything.

It is now four years since the PNM has been in power and as we have seen just how bad things have gotten, especially in the areas of crimes and corruption.

My question now is: will these same calypsonians grace us with songs that expose the problems of governance coming from the PNM or will they be silent or still sing on the UNC?

Fair is fair! If you rightly attacked the UNC for their corruption and ineptitude while in office, then let us hear a verse or two about the PNM on their 50th anniversary. I await your renditions.
