Pay $2,000 each for illegal guns

The EDITOR: Emblazon across the daily newspapers was the picture of the bullet-riddled backdoor of Kadiesha Mitchell of Pierreville, Mayaro. As a result, Ms Mitchell is fighting for her life at hospital. Unfortunately, her daughter, Zakiyah lost hers. This event has prompted me to ask the following pertinent questions about legal and illegal guns.

1) What is the origin of the guns? Are they American, Russian or Italian made?

2) Who is supplying the ammunition for the guns on a weekly or monthly basis?

3) Where is the money coming from to fund the purchase of the guns?

4) What is the preferred weapon of choice for the criminals (38, 45, Tech 9, Uzi, AK 47, M16 or M20)?

5) Is there a run on the sale of guns of the legal importers? Or what has the gun inventory of legal importers been like for the past five years?

6) Do we need to take a long, hard look at the manner in which we issue legal firearms to members of the public?

7) Must we begin to search all fishing boats coming out of Venezuela?

8) Must we begin to search all youths in hot bed areas as a matter of National Security? England and USA did it after the London bombings of July 7 last year.

9) Must we introduce the Gun Amnesty to get illegal guns off the streets? We need to offer the person who turns in his gun more than he had paid for it. Two thousand dollars is a good price to offer.

10) Must we put metal detectors at important ports of entry (City Gate, malls)?
