Nurses reminded about Code of Conduct

In newspaper advertisements published yesterday, the Council referred to the Code of Professional Conduct which governs nursing practice, conduct and relationships.

The notice continued, “The Code also directs the nurse to ensure that no action or omission on his/her part or within his/her sphere of influence is detrimental to the condition or safety of the patients and their family.

“All members of the nursing profession have a responsibility to respect the rights and privileges of the patient/client as an individual, as a member of a family or society.

“Nurses are expected to maintain standards or conduct at all times with integrity and respect which will redound to the benefit if the profession generally and enhance the confidence of the public more specifically.”
