$80,000 for UTT head

Jeffrey in his contribution during sitting of the House of Representatives had said that the UTT head is paid a salary of $40,000 to $50,000 per month, plus other allowances and when Gopeesingh estimated the total income, his (Gopeesingh) figure was not challenged by Jeffrey.

The UTT website lists Professor Ken Julien as President of the Board of Governors and the UTT’s Provost as Prof David McGraw.

Jeffrey said the UTT President gets a salary which is 20 percent higher than that paid to the Provost. He added that the Provost, Head of Professorship, and the Chairman of the Academic Council, each earns in the range of $40,000 to $50,000 monthly.

Professors earn $32,000 to $45,000, while Associate Professors are paid $25,000 to $40,000, and Assistant Professors are paid $22,000 to $34,000, monthly.

Jeffrey added that top posts such as Provost, Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors all get an extra 20 percent of their salary as a housing allowance. The Provost and the Professors also get a $10,000 per month traveling allowance, which is less for other ranks.

The UTT website lists Prof Julien as “President” under the heading of key academic and corporate staff and also lists him as “President” under the Board of Governors. It is not known whether he holds these posts under separate salaries for being UTT President and President of the Board.
