Diamond Man out UPTC Nursery Stakes
Winner of all three of his starts including the Lemon, Lime & Bitters race on Royal Oak Rum Derby Day, the Jamaica-bred son of Vanadium/Radiance is under a cloud and was withdrawn from the 1200 metres event because of a knee injury.
Only 11 of the 21 “babes” nominated at the third stage were declared to run in the UPTC Nursery.
And six runners have been left in for the UPTC Diamond Stakes with the withdrawal of Willing To Spend and speedy three-year-old Suga Boy.
But an excioting finish seems in the offing in this 1350 metres run with current champion Storm Street, Personal Encounter, Cash It Back and last year’s Horse of the Year Swing By holding the engagement.
Draw for post positions for both races were made at the Betting Levy Board offices, Arima, yesterday.
The UPTC will present an eight-race programme on Saturday, and following the running of the Hi 5 race, there will be an auction of three American-bred yearlings purchased at the recent Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s August Yearling sale.
The trio is a bay colt by Act Of Duty out of Refax; another bay colt by Snow Ridge/Cherokee Flower and a chestnut colt by Roar Of The Tiger/Miss Tact.
