PoS Mayor writes Integrity Commission

On Thursday at the post-Cabinet news conference, Ramlogan said he concurred with advice from the Solicitor General that this act was illegal, had written Lee Sing on the matter and called upon the mayor to stop this act before Carnival. In his letter to the Commission, Lee Sing said he has been advised by senior counsel that “any such instructions given by the AG to the Port-of-Spain City Corporation would have been unlawful.”

Lee Sing said he has not received any communication from Ramlogan and is currently preparing a brief on this matter on the request of the permanent secretary in the Local Government Ministry. Claiming that Ramlogan’s comments “constitute a clear breach of the code of conduct in public life,” Lee Sing asked the Commission to “give this matter your urgent attention.”
