She will also return to the savannah later tonight for the Panorama finals, of which she is a patron.
She was also the patron of the Soca Monarch competition which took place at Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port-of-Spain. Ahead of the announcement of the winner, Persad-Bissessar told reporters yesterday she had a favourite artiste but would not say who, averting any controversy such as stoked by Attorney General Anand Ramlogan naming Machel Montano as the artiste he was backing. She will spend most of the Carnival celebrations, however in her Siparia constituency.
“On Monday I will spend some time in Port-of-Spain, but I have had Carnival events every year, for the past 14 or 15 years, in my constituency. So I’ll spend some time here — Port-of-Spain — and go back down to the constituency on Monday evening and Tuesday evening.
“So it seems to be a very packed week, and a couple of days to come, but I look forward to it,” she said.
Last night she attended the Roving Tent in Penal before returning for the Soca Monarch competition in Port-of-Spain.
