Tim calls meeting on Maha Sabha row

The meeting is scheduled for tomorrow (Monday) at about 11 am at the Ministry of Education, Alexandria Street, St Clair.

The meeting was called following the Maha Sabha’s claim that it would not support the principal’s return to the school despite a directive from the TSC on Friday. (See page 5) A release from the ministry yesterday, stated, the situation at the school was “untenable and unacceptable, and is detrimental to the education of the children”.

The Minister, under Sections 3 and 4 of the Education Act Chapter 39:01, is responsible for securing the purposes set out in Section 3, and for the due administration of this Act, and in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by this Act, the minister may do all things necessary or convenient for the purpose of carrying out his responsibility under this Act, the release added.
